Lip gloss is a staple in every gal’s makeup kit, but they don’t all claim to plump the lips. So when I saw the Maybelline Lip Lifter Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid at CVS, I knew I had to try it. The promise of glossy shine and a plumping effect from a drugstore brand was too good to resist. I picked up a shade that looked absolutely gorgeous, and I was excited to see what it could do.

Lovely Colors

The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the package was the stunning color. Maybelline really nailed the shade range here; it’s vibrant yet wearable, and the high-shine finish is beautiful on its own or layered over lipstick. The formula itself is incredibly smooth and non-sticky, which is a huge win for me. I can’t stand a gloss that feels heavy or tacky on my lips. Plus, I have to mention the scent—it has this really pleasant, sweet aroma that makes application a genuinely enjoyable experience.

Moisturizing Effect

Speaking of application, it’s so easy. The wand is a nice size, making it a breeze to swipe on a perfect coat of gloss in one go. It glides on effortlessly and distributes the product evenly, so you get that lovely, glassy finish right away. The hyaluronic acid in the formula gives a great boost of hydration, making my lips feel instantly moisturized and soft.

No Plumping

Now, for the big question: did it live up to the “lifter” name and plump my lips? To be completely honest, for me, the answer is no. I didn’t experience any noticeable plumping or “lifting” effect. My lips felt hydrated and looked super shiny and smooth, but they didn’t appear any fuller. This was a bit of a disappointment, as that was one of the main reasons I was so excited to try it.

My Honest Take On The Maybelline Lip Lifter Gloss

While applying the Maybelline Lip Lifter Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid didn’t result in a plumping effect for me, I can’t deny that the color is absolutely lovely. The beautiful shade, the smooth feel, and the amazing scent make it a gloss I’ll continue to reach for. If you’re looking for a hydrating, high-shine gloss with a gorgeous color and an easy application, this is a fantastic choice. Just don’t expect a dramatic plumping result. For me, it’s a great gloss, but not a “lifter.”
