LGBTQ Makeup Artist Seansky

Hi Seansky! I’m so glad to get to chat with you this month about pride and makeup. I’ve been following you on Instagram via @Seanskyii and love your talent. What inspired you to express your creativity through makeup?

When I first started doing makeup it was just to express my femininity because I was very uncomfortable with how certain aspects of myself were masculine-presenting.

Around this time last year, I started seeing a lot of makeup artists using their makeup to paint beautiful pieces of art of their faces and bodies. I wanted to challenge myself and my artistry and see what I was capable of.

After trying something new, I discovered my new found passion.

That’s pretty cool. I have to ask, what is your absolute favorite beauty product?

To be perfectly honest, it would have to be my Brow Pomade for the simple fact that brows can shape your face in so many different ways.

Plus, having snatched brows is literally the best feeling ever.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade is highly recommended by makeup artists.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade is a preferred brand among makeup artists.

True! I can’t argue with that. What’s your number one tip for applying makeup?

Personally, I would suggest starting with eyebrows and then move onto eyeshadow if you know the palette you are using is very pigmented and has quite a bit of fallout.

Also, when you do move onto complexion, it is imperative that you use a moisturizer, let it fully absorb into your skin, apply a primer, then apply the foundation.

Since we’re on the topic of makeup, which brands would be your dream to work with?

I would LOVE to work with Morphe and Anastasia Beverly Hills. These were the very first brands I ever purchased from when I started my makeup journey.

Hopefully, that dream will come true one day, but until then, I will put my all into creating beautiful and diverse content.

LGBTQ Makeup Artist Seansky’s 30 Days of Pride Series

30 Days of Pride Series
Makeup Artist and Beauty Influencer Seansky has been showcasing their 30 Days of Pride series on Instagram via @Seanskyii.

I have to tell you, I love your 30 Days of Pride Series showcased on Instagram for Pride Month. Tell me, what message do you hope to convey through your series?

The message I hope to convey in my 30 Days of Pride series is my story as a queer person of color, what I have experienced and the beauty of the community.

My story has had many positives like being able to find my voice as a queer person of color and finally being able to feel like my identity is valid. But my story also contains some negative aspects to it.

I wont go fully in depth on those but if people would like to learn more they can go to my Instagram @Seanskyii.

LGBTQ pride story

I appreciate you sharing that. What advice do you have for young men and women who are struggling to come out?

A piece of advice I have for the younger people who are struggling to come out is no matter the outcome, things will be okay in the end. Whether whomever you’re coming out to is accepting of that or not, you will be okay.

Also, it is imperative that you come out when you are ready. No matter the situation or if you are being pressured by the people around you, coming out is your decision and you are the only one who can make that call.

Coming Out is Your Decision

I fully agree with you. Coming out is a personal decision. Please tell me, why are you prideful to be a part of the LGBTQ community?

The LGBTQ community is one the most multi-faceted and diverse group of people. In most instances I feel like I can genuinely be my most authentic self and not have to worry about being ridiculed and judged.

There are some aspects that we can fix, but overall we are very inclusive, open, loving, and strong and that’s why I’m prideful to be a part of the LGBTQ community.

Seansky, thanks so much for sharing your perspective, as well as aspects of your personal pride story. Additionally, kudos to you for your 30 Days of Pride Series, it’s a wonderful showcase that brings to light the importance of equality for all human beings!
