snowflake hairIt’s wintertime and sleigh-bells are ringing, but why are there snowflakes on your shoulders when it hasn’t started snowing yet? Ever been called out on having dandruff before?

To put it into perspective, dandruff is a common condition and it can be super embarrassing and very tricky to treat. White, oily flakes and an itchy, scaly scalp are the main symptoms of dandruff.

Did you start noticing flakes this winter? Well that’s because dandruff tends to get worse during fall and winter months, when the air is dry.

Figuring out the exact cause of your itchy, scaly scalp is not easy because it often seems to pop out of nowhere, but if you think carefully, you may be able to pinpoint it to one of these situations:

  1. Seborrheic Dermatitis is a severe form of dandruff that causes irritated, red and scaly skin.
  2. Not washing your hair as often as you should can cause skin cells to build up, leading to flakes and itching.
  3. Malassezia yeast can build up on the scalp and cause excess skin-cell growth leading to dandruff or eczema.
  4. Personal Care Products such as shampoos and conditioners or any other serum you put on your scalp that contains chemicals can cause contact dermatitis, making your scalp raw and itchy.

So here’s the thing, you don’t have to live with dandruff. I’m going to share two extremely effective options, the first is a natural remedy that several of my friends have tried and had success with and the second is a shampoo found in your local drugstore that I’ve used personally, to help you overcome this embarrassing problem.
